About The Position

Reporting to the Head of Automation & Control, the Automation Technician will be required to perform functions and duties as assigned to assist the department in establishing and maintaining a safe and consistent operation of all automation, electrical, mechanical and control systems. This role involves operating automated show elements and systems during rehearsals, performances, and special events, as well as performing automated cue tracks. The technician will also assist with long-term inspections and maintenance schedules and procedures, provide services to other departments as needed, and adhere to all company and departmental safety policies, with an emphasis on maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all OSHA regulations. Additionally, the role contributes to creating a positive atmosphere for all show personnel and performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Automation Technician for large-scale theatrical or production show.
  • Experience and knowledge of automation & controls systems and hardware.
  • Experience with a wide variety of modern theatrical automation and controls systems as it pertains to installation, use and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with a wide variety of modern fluid power equipment such as hydraulic valves, and pumps as it pertains to installation, use and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with flying effects with artists and theatrical rigging.
  • Experience with electronics, conduit, battery packs, wire terminals, sensors, networks and control boards.
  • Must be highly organized and be able to function in a stressful environment.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills and be able to act quickly to different situations.
  • Must be organized and have great attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify safety concerns and conform to safe working procedures.
  • Ability, experience, and comfort in working at high elevations in a theatrical environment.
  • Must have knowledge of current automation systems, design, maintenance and repair.
  • Must maintain relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Must have the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of OSHA health and safety protocols is required.
  • Must have current OSHA 10 General Industry Safety Card.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with Navigator preferred.
