About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect (SA) for its British Columbia healthcare customers. This role is part of a team redefining how Canadian healthcare approaches technology and is at the forefront of a large technology paradigm shift. The SA will own customer technical engagements, working hands-on with technology to help customers set up resilient, secure, and high-performing AWS solutions. The role requires a blend of technical and business acumen, enabling engagement at all organizational levels. The SA will be comfortable presenting complex software architectures to engineers and explaining concepts to non-technical executives. Responsibilities include authoring whitepapers and reference architectures, delivering technical webinars, speaking at public events, and potentially filing patents. SAs in this team have experience in the public sector, building secure and compliant solutions, possess strong communication skills, and have thought-leadership experience in the healthcare sector regarding business, products, and technical challenges. The SA is expected to be an influencer and leader with whom customers are eager to engage.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • 10+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 10+ years of technology/software sales experience
  • Cloud Technology Certification (such as Solutions Architecture, Cloud Security Professional or Cloud DevOps Engineering)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or 4+ years of technical work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals
  • Understanding of government compliance, security frameworks and regulations
  • Experience working in healthcare or with healthcare customers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)

Responsibilities

  • Owning technical engagements at all levels
  • Removing technical account management barriers
  • Defining implementation and transition architectures
  • Leading RFI and RFP technical responses
  • Helping customers achieve project and overall technical success
  • Assisting strategic solution providers with AWS-oriented definitions and implementations
  • Developing and delivering presentations, discussions, product demos, sample solutions, blog posts, and white papers
  • Working closely with account managers and business developers to ensure customer success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS cloud
  • Supporting and promoting AWS consulting and technology partners
  • Gaining industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee, panelist and keynote speaker at AWS and third-party technology conferences, trade shows and press events
  • Capturing and sharing knowledge with the broader AWS Solutions Architecture community
