About The Position

The Department of Marketing and Communications is a strategic partner to CMU’s academic and administrative units. We offer solutions for the university’s marketing and communication needs and advance the university’s internal and external relationships through brand building, story telling and content creation. The Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Marketing and Communications has core processes that are owned and those to which they will contribute. Core processes owned include: Personal Assistant to Vice President, Department Administrative Support, Interdepartmental Liaison, Office Management, and Calendar and Scheduling Management. Core processes as a contributor include: Project Management and Special Project Assignments. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in an administrative or executive assistant role
  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism
  • Proven ability to multi-task with critical deadlines with minimal or no direction
  • Ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge of office software
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general written materials, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and prepare and conduct verbal and visual presentation of materials.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, and board of directors.
  • Strategic and analytical reasoning skills are necessary.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Individual is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
  • Individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this seat include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Applicant must be able to verify U.S. employment eligibility.
