About The Position
VTG is seeking a Technical Writer to support our team in Fredericksburg, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong technical communication skills and practical experience translating complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation for a variety of audiences.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with a Top Secret clearance.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years or more of technical experience working in this position
- Technical communication certification required
- Practical experience working with engineers, scientists, computer support specialists, network engineers, or software developers
- Demonstrated experience creating how-to-guides and operating instructions
- Ability to determine end-user technical documentation needs
- Experience selecting the appropriate medium for messaging, including documents and online videos
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, computer support specialists, network engineers, and software developers to gather technical information
- Develop clear, accurate how-to-guides and operating instructions for end users
- Assess and determine documentation requirements based on end-user needs
- Select and produce content in the most effective medium — written documentation, online videos, or other formats — to communicate technical information effectively
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, consistent, and accessible to the intended audience
