About The Position

St. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12, founded on Xaverian values. The school educates students to be, do and stand for good in the world and enrolls approximately 1,500 students. St. John’s is a faith-based community prioritizing recognition of all people, a habit of excellence, and empowering individuals. Strong candidates should embody Catholic principles and Xaverian values. The school seeks mathematics teachers for grades 9 through 12 for the 2026-2027 school year. The Mathematics Department aims to help students welcome new challenges, question and justify conjectures, test solutions, develop facility with mathematical operations, and use them to make sense of the world. Teachers are expected to teach five (5) classes and complete a proctoring duty period per rotation each semester. Prospective candidates should have the competency and passion to engage every student in a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and desire to be an active, collegial member of an adult learning community. The school embraces a student-centered digital learning model incorporating education technology tools, open education resources, and varied instructional strategies.

Requirements

  • Strong content knowledge across high school mathematics disciplines (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and/or Calculus)
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a professional learning community
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth-oriented mindset
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching high school mathematics (or applicable practicum experience)
  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics and/or a related field
  • Ability to work effectively with a diversity of learning styles and learners
  • Open to and willing to embrace a student-centered digital learning model that incorporates education technology tools, open education resources, and varied instructional strategies
  • Embody the Catholic principles and Xaverian values that guide our institution to help foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment

Responsibilities

  • Teach five (5) classes for grades 9 through 12 mathematics
