About The Position

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of the AWS, ANSI and ASME codes.
• Experience using oxy/acetylene torch.
• Knowledge of carbon steel and other alloy metals.
• Knowledge of operation of welding equipment, electrodes, fluxes, shielding gasses and welding processes.
• Knowledge of the various sizes and grades of welding electrodes, the proper use of electrodes and welding processes, the appearance of a proper fit-up and the appearance of properly cleaned and prepared surfaces.
• Ability to properly use and care for the tools and equipment and welding electrodes commonly used on industrial projects, as well as operation of all hand and power tools associated with welding processes.
• Ability to prep steel shapes.
• Ability to read and understand engineering prints.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform assigned tasks with limited general technical guidance.
• Ability to safely climb ladders of various heights.
• Two (2) years' experience in structural welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Welders must pass structural weld test upon offer; welding tests include Vertical and Overhead Tests (Dual Shield and Stick, 80.18 Rod).
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Nice To Haves

• Three (3) years' experience in structural welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding of metal components for fabrication or repair, plant equipment and structures according to layout, blueprints or work orders using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
