About The Position
Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Wayne, New Jersey. The role supports laboratory testing by preparing, sorting, identifying, labeling, routing, packing, and shipping specimens, as well as maintaining accurate patient data and documenting specimen issues. The Specimen Accessioner description also identifies clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays. The pay range is $17.75–$20.00 per hour. Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Comfortable handling biological specimens.
- Ability to accurately identify specimens.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Nice To Haves
- One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
- One year or more of medical or production experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
- Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
- Accurately identify and label specimens.
- Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
- Meet department activity and production goals.
- Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
- Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Resolve and document problem specimens.
- Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.
