About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Edison, New Jersey. The position prepares, sorts, identifies, labels, routes, stores, and ships laboratory specimens for testing, and performs accurate and timely patient-information data entry. The role also involves meeting departmental activity and production goals and resolving and documenting problem specimens. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfortable handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One or more years of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Prepare and store excess specimen samples properly.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning and sample sorting in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
