About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Special Education; Instructional Specialist in grades 4 -12.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Proficiency in the mathematical concepts of basic algebra and geometry, including but not limited to: calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Must be able to speak and hear clearly, with or without accommodations.
• Specific vision abilities are also necessary, with or without accommodations, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physically capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of working in a high stress environment.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of four (4) years teaching experience in a special education program in a school or other similar setting is preferred – other experience may be considered.
• Teaching experience in a residential or acute care behavioral health setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing individualized educational plans which incorporate the behavioral care and treatment of the student.
• Evaluating the student based on age, psychological, behavioral, and educational needs.
• Determining appropriate lessons and treatment plans to meet desired goals and objectives for the individual student.
