About The Position

The Special Education Elementary Teacher provides daily instruction to students in accordance with the Board-approved curriculum. The position teaches in a self-contained classroom, with responsibility for Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies, and supports students who demonstrate emotional and behavioral challenges and learning differences. The teacher is expected to maintain a positive learning environment and demonstrate strong teaching skills, enthusiasm, dedication, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

This position is for the 2026–2027 school year at Conerly Road School. It is a 10-month contract. Salary and benefits are determined by the Board of Education and applicable collective negotiations agreement. Performance is reviewed annually in accordance with New Jersey law and Board policy for evaluations of certificated staff. The job description may be modified as district and state requirements evolve and does not constitute a written employment contract.

Requirements

• Appropriate New Jersey certification: K–6 Elementary Certificate and Teacher of Students with Disabilities, or Teacher of the Handicapped.
• Experience with students who demonstrate emotional and behavioral challenges, as well as learning differences.
• Strong teaching skills, enthusiasm, and dedication.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act.
• Successful criminal history clearance.
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or appropriate employment authorization.
• Proficiency in computer applications pertinent to the position, including Google Suite, IEP software, and the Genesis Employee Portal and Student Information System.
