Anticipated, Special Education Elementary Teacher (26 - 27 School Year) - FPS
About The Position
The Special Education Elementary Teacher provides daily instruction for students in accordance with the Board-approved curriculum. The position teaches a self-contained classroom covering Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies, and seeks an individual with strong teaching skills, enthusiasm, and dedication who can support students with learning differences and emotional and behavioral challenges. The position is anticipated for the 2026–2027 school year at Franklin Park School. This is a 10-month contract. Salary and benefits are determined by the Board of Education and applicable collective negotiations agreement. For the 2026–2027 school year, the stated salary range is Step 1 BA/BS ($68,023) to Step 18 PhD/EdD ($99,380), with compensation commensurate with experience and education.
Requirements
- Appropriate New Jersey certification: K-6 Elementary Certificate and Teacher of Students with Disabilities, or Teacher of the Handicapped.
- Experience with students who have learning differences and emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Strong teaching skills, enthusiasm, and dedication.
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act.
- Successful criminal history clearance.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or appropriate employment authorization.
- Ability to be proficient in computer applications pertinent to the position, including Google Suite, IEP software, and the Genesis Employee Portal and Student Information System.
