The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing food for resident meals according to daily menus, utilizing knowledge of food preparation and presentation, and as directed by the Sous Chef or Chef. Key responsibilities include ensuring foods are served at correct temperatures, providing superior customer service to residents, and accommodating their mealtime requests pleasantly and timely. The role requires knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation measures, including surface safe procedures, and the safe operation of cooking and cleaning equipment. The Prep Cook must ensure proper storage of frozen, cold, and dry foods, perform daily tasks set by the Culinary Director, and cooperate with all staff as a team member. Additionally, the position involves cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment, reporting operational problems immediately, and adhering to all health and safety requirements, infection control policies, and Runk and Pratt policies and procedures. Maintaining confidentiality about residents and demonstrating appropriate and respectful conduct are also essential. The Prep Cook is expected to provide support in areas beyond normal expectations and attendance is required during inclement weather.
