About The Position

Requirements

• MSW degree from an accredited Masters of Social Work Program.
• Advanced knowledge of categories in mental illness, personality development, types of psychiatric treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
• Knowledge in adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
• Strong human relation skills to interact with patients, patient's family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
• Psychosocial diagnostic skills.
• Licensure by applicable state requirements.
• Arizona: Active license through Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners; Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) is required.

• Specialty certification/training as preferred by the work area.

Responsibilities

• Conducts diagnostic assessment, determines clinical interventions, facilitates crisis intervention and psychotherapy, and provides education for patients and their families under the supervision of a qualified social worker.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
• Participates in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
• Functions as a multidisciplinary team member.
• Functions within the research, practice, and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
• Complies with ethical and NASW standards for social workers in a healthcare setting, including medical/legal responsibilities.
• Serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
