About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This Groundskeeper position is responsible for the care of the organization's maintained grounds. The work is on a PRN (as needed) basis with varied 8-hour shifts. Responsibilities include all types of outside property maintenance, snow removal, equipment operation, and basic tree trimming. The role may also involve assisting with inside maintenance and construction, sprinkler system repair, parking lot repairs, grounds assessments, minor electrical work, and general equipment maintenance. Depending on the location, the individual might also serve as a seasonal shuttle driver for employees.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate equipment for basic dirt work and snow removal equipment such as bobcats, trucks with snow removal equipment, power brooms etc.
  • Ability to work on high equipment, such as lifts, ladders etc.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and a working knowledge of plumbing, painting, electronics, masonry, carpentry, welding, and landscape technology
  • Adaptable to learn maintenance duties inside buildings when needed
  • May require applicable State Commercial Applicators License and/or Certification
  • Depending on location, may require current valid driver’s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or vocational school with courses in landscaping, horticulture, forestry or park management desired
  • Six months experience working with lawn care equipment preferred
  • Experience in parking ramp, lawn maintenance, and general maintenance desired
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as light and heavy-duty machinery helpful
