About The Position

Requirements

• Strong technical acumen in hydraulics, hydrology, and coastal flood risk modeling and mapping.
• Understanding of other modes of flooding and compound flooding.
• Strong organization and project management skills.
• Meet the Administrative Project Manager - 8300B qualification requirements through one of the following: a relevant bachelor’s degree and five years of qualifying full-time experience, including two years in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity; a high school diploma or equivalent and nine years of qualifying experience, including two years in one of those capacities; or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Qualifying degree fields include engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration.
• For equivalent education and experience, qualifying credit may include college credits toward a bachelor’s degree in a listed field, an accredited master’s degree in a listed discipline, a Juris Doctor degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Landscape Architect.
• All candidates must have two years of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience as described in the qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support flood risk assessments and implementation of New York City’s first coastal mapping program.
• Analyze climate and flood data.
• Manage projects and coordinate technical consultants.
• Prepare technical reports and decision-support materials using visualization tools such as GIS.
• Coordinate with FEMA, USACE, and technical partners.
• Translate flood risk information into planning tools.
• Manage multiple tasks and complex systems using strong organizational and project management skills.
• Perform complex work involving data management software, economic analysis, data analytics, and reporting.
• Collaborate with others working on stormwater and groundwater management.
