About The Position

This Registered Nurse position will perform specialized nursing and medical treatment and deliver care to developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals, many of whom are also medically fragile. This position carries out nursing care plans based on the diagnoses and pertinent medical information, and individual needs. The Registered nurse will independently carry out the nursing care process and will set up an environment to assist individuals in obtaining the maximum level of functioning and/or recovery. They will administer medication, participate in interdisciplinary team process, assist in coordinating care for the individuals, and work closely with the medical doctors, psychologist, social worker, recreational therapist, dietician, and other professionals to assist the individual in meeting their maximum potential for independence and function while providing the best quality of life possible. The O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is a specialized skilled nursing facility focused on maintaining the quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive disorders, with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs, whose level of support extends beyond what can be provided by family or in a community living setting.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

  • Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application.
  • Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications.
  • Ability to communicate information to patients, families and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing or by demonstration.
  • Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
