• Occupational Therapist: FL OT: Florida Occupational Therapist
• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants: Current State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant licensure
• Occupational Therapist Assistants: Current State of Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure (PTA)
• Occupational Therapist: BLS: Basic Life Support (Preferred)
• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants: AS: Associate of Science
• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants: BLS: Basic Life Support (Preferred)
• Occupational Therapist Assistants: AS: Associate of Science
• Occupational Therapist Assistants: BLS: Basic Life Support (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Occupational Therapist: Responsible for utilizing purposeful activities or interventions to achieve functional outcomes, maximizing the independence and maintenance of health of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a cognitive impairment, a psychosocial dysfunction, a mental illness, a developmental or a learning disability, or an adverse environmental condition. Assumes the responsibility for assessing the patient, identifying the level of acuity of illness, planning the patient’s treatment program, and implementing/directing the program.
• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants: Functions under the supervision of a physical therapist to provide patient care and support activities, as outlined in the patient plan of care and according to the Federal and State guidelines.
• Occupational Therapist Assistants: Functions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide patient care and support activities, as outlined in the patient's plan of treatment. In conjunction with the Occupational Therapist, utilizes a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the development and/or rehabilitation of patients with physical, cognitive, visual/perceptual, visual-motor and functional deficits as related to Activities of Daily Living. Provides quality, cost effective treatment to SMHCS customers and provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education. Submits concise, accurate, and complete documentation and charges.
