About The Position
Responsible professional work performing specialized duties involving the planning, overseeing, and enhancing environmental health programs that aim to mitigate health risks and promote environments conducive to improving public health. Serving as the Environmental Health Compliance Lead within the Public Health Emergencies & Environmental Health Division at the New Orleans Health and Human Services Department, this role demands a proactive approach in leading the implementation, adherence, and advancement of environmental health ordinances. These include initiatives aimed at addressing public health sanitation, substandard housing issues, tobacco smoke and products, controlling noise pollution, and preventing childhood lead poisoning, and disaster response & recovery, among others. This position is critical during emergencies and special events, necessitating flexibility and readiness to work beyond conventional office hours to safeguard public health.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in environmental health, public health, public administration, a social science or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of professional experience developing and implementing community health or wellness programs.
- Professional experience is paid experience gained in a position that required a Bachelor's degree upon entrance.
- Applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date.
