Counselor - Inpatient Behavioral Health

About The Position
Delivers psychiatric treatment, allowing integration of the mind and body with each person's social and environmental needs, in order to restore the patient to emotional/mental health.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
- At Minimum experience in a college practicum in a clinical area is required and 1 year experience in a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of mental health counseling techniques, treatment modalities, procedures, and practices.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and reports potential problem areas regarding therapeutic environment to the Program Director.
- Assesses patient as appropriate to the ages of the population being served.
- Assists Social Work staff in the completion of Bio-Psycho-Social Assessments, Crisis Plans, and in Discharge Planning.
- Identifies and communicates significant issues, progress, and dynamics to staff, treatment team, and physicians.
- Manages emergency situations such as codes and unexpected/unusual incidents.
- Participates in process improvement program that emphasizes continuous quality successes.
- Participates in program development activities.
- Participates in the development, implementation, or evaluation of the patient's plan of care.
- Provides individual, group, and family counseling.
