About The Position

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and collaborative professional to serve as the Older Adult Falls Special Project Coordinator within the Violence & Injury Prevention Section (VIPS). This role provides program direction, oversees statewide injury-prevention initiatives, and supports the implementation of evidence-based programs aimed at reducing older adult falls across Ohio. The Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness (BHIW) is comprised of programs which address prevention and improved health outcomes for Ohioans across the lifespan. BHIW includes programs that address chronic diseases, prevent and reduce injuries, promote access to health care, and reduce health disparities. Program initiatives include the promotion of healthy eating and active living, as well as the prevention of chronic diseases, tobacco use, child injuries, sexual assault, domestic violence, and drug overdoses.

Requirements

  • 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.
  • 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Lead older adult falls prevention initiatives, including evidence-based programs and statewide strategy development.
  • Manage grants, contracts, reporting, and program documentation for VIPS projects, including ACL grant activities and Stepping On licensing.
  • Research best practices, prepare strategic materials, and support communication efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance to partners, contractors, and stakeholders; support policy and systems change work.
  • Evaluate program activities, track outcomes, and gather data to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate the Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership (OIPP), maintain member communication, and support workgroup objectives.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, health systems, and government agencies to advance injury-prevention work.
  • Develop surveys, reporting tools, and evaluation methods; prepare required records and reports.
