About The Position
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Patient Safety Assistant. This role is focused on monitoring and is responsible for observing and interacting with confused, violent, combative, or suicidal patients to prevent injury. They assist with basic patient care functions and notify nursing staff for immediate interventions when needed. They remain in the room at all times, except for breaks, and may also observe multiple patients via video monitoring. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety, early detection of health issues, and timely medical intervention. Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age required.
- High school education OR equivalent required.
- Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety of confused or suicidal patients required.
Nice To Haves
- Health care student, military medic experience OR comparable work experience in a health care environment preferred.
Responsibilities
- Observing and interacting with confused, violent, combative, or suicidal patients to prevent injury.
- Assisting with basic patient care functions.
