About The Position

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain company-issued pallet jack licenses.
• Ability to work efficiently in a plant environment.
• Regularly stand, reach, and move about the facility.
• Light to moderate physical effort is required.
• Use required footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair nets, and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in shipping and receiving.
• Preferred experience working with large moving equipment.
• Preference for experience in a poultry or food processing organization.
• Military experience is valued; veterans are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Operate an electronic or hand-operated pallet jack between departments, buildings, and grounds.
• Collect and deliver materials while following established safety procedures.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment and follow safety regulations.
• Deliver materials to work areas as directed by the production supervisor, stack materials in storage areas, and load shipments in trailers.
• Ensure products and equipment being moved are handled safely and are undamaged.
• Identify mechanical problems or damage to the pallet jack and report them to the supervisor for inspection and repair.
• Complete and deliver daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor.
• Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinate work to support best practices.
• Attend appropriate team meetings and support team cohesiveness and resolution of issues.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
