About The Position

The Pallet Jack Operator collects and delivers products and materials between departments, buildings, and grounds using an electronic or hand-operated pallet jack. The role follows company safety and quality procedures and ensures that products and equipment are handled safely and remain undamaged. The operator maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment, reports defective materials or questionable conditions, and reports pallet jack mechanical problems or damage to a supervisor for inspection and repair. The position delivers materials to work areas as directed by the production supervisor, stacks materials in storage areas, loads shipments in trailers, and completes and delivers daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor. As a team member, the operator participates in team development, communication, implementation of team concepts, programs and policies, and appropriate team meetings. The operator supports Simmons’ operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, and company policies, and communicates concerns and ideas for improvement. Other duties may be assigned in support of business objectives.

Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain company-issued pallet jack licenses.
Ability to work efficiently in a plant environment.
Regularly stand, reach, and move about the facility.
Light to moderate physical effort is required.
Use required footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair nets, and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

Preferred experience in shipping and receiving.
Preferred experience working with large moving equipment.
Preference for experience in a poultry or food processing organization.
Military experience is valued; veterans are welcome.

Responsibilities

Operate an electronic or hand-operated pallet jack between departments, buildings, and grounds.
Collect and deliver materials while following established safety procedures.
Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment and follow safety regulations.
Deliver materials to work areas as directed by the production supervisor, stack materials in storage areas, and load shipments in trailers.
Ensure products and equipment being moved are handled safely and are undamaged.
Identify mechanical problems or damage to the pallet jack and report them to the supervisor for inspection and repair.
Complete and deliver daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor.
Participate in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinate work to support best practices.
Attend appropriate team meetings and support team cohesiveness and resolution of issues.
Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
