About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus work experience that meets the minimum essential functions of the position.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Normal hearing and vision, with corrective devices as needed.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to represent the agency positively and professionally and provide appropriate internal and external customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, and 10–26 pounds frequently.
• Ability to bend, twist, push, and lift as required to assist clients.

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned vehicles to transport clients to assistance or services, County facilities, homes, and other required destinations.
• Assist clients with disabilities into and out of vehicles and to and from homes, including bending, twisting, pushing, and lifting as required.
• Provide positive customer service and interactions with clients while following safety policies and practices.
• Install, use, and remove appropriate wheelchairs, car seats, or other safety equipment when transporting clients, including minors.
• Supervise clients during transportation activities.
• Determine safe and timely travel paths for passengers.
• Evaluate and communicate appropriate actions in situations that may pose a safety risk; analyze and solve problems; and learn and understand transit routes and schedules.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on vehicles.
• Record and prepare required logs and reports.
• Stay current on emergency and safety procedures and ensure safety equipment is present and operational.
• Attend required training classes, supervision meetings, unit meetings, and other assigned internal and external meetings.
• Maintain the Human Services vehicle fleet, including keeping vehicles clean, arranging appropriate maintenance, and maintaining maintenance logs.
• Meet job safety requirements and applicable safety standards.
• Perform miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned.
• Maintain required licenses and certifications, if any.
