About The Position

As an Occupational Therapist at St. Joseph Health, you will play a crucial role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life by enabling them to safely perform daily activities. Your daily tasks will involve assessing a diverse patient population, including those with orthopedic, neurological, sensory, and cancer recovery needs. You will be responsible for developing individualized treatment plans and conducting regular evaluations and re-evaluations to monitor progress. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential, as is thorough documentation of patient care. The role requires providing positive and motivating care to a high volume of patients. Requirements

  • Bachelors Other Occupational Therapy, upon hire
  • Occupational Therapist: TX, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
  • Flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player
  • Ability to float to our 3 Critical Access Hospitals: Navasota, Caldwell and Madisonville (Primarily Navasota and Caldwell)

Responsibilities

  • Assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.)
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Conduct evaluations/re-evaluations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Document thoroughly
  • Provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients
  • Evaluate, plan and implement occupational therapy treatment programs according to physician referral, and/or plan of care
  • Design programs to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, and age specific needs
  • Perform evaluations, tests, and measurements of functional status, neuromuscular, musculo‐skeletal, cognitive/perceptual, and sensory /psychological Functions
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner
  • Encourage the active participation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/family training/education
  • Complete all necessary documentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review, including patient care charting, charge entry, completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule
  • Coordinate care of patients with other departmental and hospital activities, including discharge planning, participation in care conferences, interdisciplinary rounds, collaborative practice groups, the student program and community endeavors
  • Assign, supervise and review the care of patients and duties of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and therapy aide
  • Promote and support positive and professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests and hospital personnel
  • Deliver quality therapy services to patients by performing evaluations and developing individual treatment plans and goals to maximize functional outcomes in an IP/OP setting
  • Implement the treatment program and reassess treatment results
  • Maintain standards of professional and ethical practice following the guidelines of the State of Texas Board of Examiners for Occupational Therapy
