The OPS CRNA Clinical Coordinator guides student learning and provides oversight of the day-to-day clinical practice education of the Florida Gulf Coast University Nurse Anesthesiology Program students at the assigned clinical practice site. This role ensures that the clinical practice site is conducive to student learning and maintains compliance with the COA Standards for Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs and Accreditation Policies and Procedures as related to clinical instruction. Typical duties involve orienting FGCU NA students to the clinical site, ensuring appropriate supervision by credentialed CRNA and physician anesthesiologist clinical instructors, and monitoring student-to-instructor ratios to ensure patient safety. The coordinator also monitors student case logs, assigns practice experiences based on learning outcomes, and communicates regularly with the FGCU NA Program Director and Assistant Program Director regarding student competencies and behaviors. Additionally, the role involves monitoring clinical site resources, providing feedback on student placements, facilitating on-site visits by program faculty, assisting with evaluation tools and data collection, and monitoring the currency of professional credentials for clinical instructors.
