About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of nursing.
• Six or more months of relevant operating room experience.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy, required within three months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy, required within three months of hire.
• Facility-specific: BLS certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• Facility-specific: AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS certification.
• Facility-specific: AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care.
• Function as a Scrub Technician when needed.
• Meet patients’ personal needs and work with the team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Obtain history and physical assessments according to unit-specific nursing protocols for all age groups; review medical history, physical examinations, and assessment data.
• Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report it to the appropriate person.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress and other impending emergencies; function effectively in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
• Administer and document medications accurately according to hospital policies and patient rights.
• Assess patients’ educational needs and implement or assist with implementing and documenting planned education.
• Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain clear, concise, legible documentation and deliver clear, concise reports.
• Follow infection-control guidelines and maintain patient, coworker, and hospital privacy.
• Complete assigned quality monitors and participate in Lean Daily Management practices.
• Assist in developing and educating new staff members; attend staff meetings and complete department-specific education, training, and competencies.
• Ensure patient charge items are charged and documented correctly and use department resources appropriately.
• Minimize incidental overtime and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
