LPN - Day Shift - Sign on Bonus - $3500 - Georgetown
About The Position
GENESYS Health Alliance is seeking full-time and PRN Licensed Practical Nurses to work at Georgetown Detention Center in Georgetown, South Carolina. The LPN provides care for and treats detainees in a correctional setting, including routine and emergency medical care for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. The available shift is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. day shift. The role requires graduation from a nationally accredited licensed practical nursing program, current LPN licensure in the state of employment or the ability to obtain it, and current Basic Life Support certification. Correctional nursing experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance, including passing a drug screen and criminal background check. The position is based in a corrections facility, such as a jail, prison, or detention center.
Requirements
- Graduate from a nationally accredited licensed practical nursing program.
- Current LPN license in the state of employment, or ability to obtain the license.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance, including passing a drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities
- Provide patient treatments as ordered by a licensed medical provider, including blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, weight checks, and nebulizer treatments.
- Ensure referrals for consultation, treatment, or resolution of problems are valid and applicable to documented nursing plans.
- Administer medications as ordered by a licensed medical provider and approved by the medical director, and document administration according to GENESYS Health policy and procedure.
- Carry out nursing care plans for inmates as prescribed or directed by an ALP, physician, and/or RN.
- Maintain the security of the area and medications during administration, keeping safety a top priority.
- Complete initial and ongoing screening of detained individuals upon admission to a correctional setting.
- Explain procedures and treatment protocols to patients.
