About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nursing or a master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
• AHA/ARC BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a specialty clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
• Recognize deviations from normal findings and collaborate with a physician to formulate treatment plans and follow-up.
• Write prescriptions for medications and blood products, and order routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
• Request written consultations from physicians and other healthcare professionals to support appropriate, quality patient care.
• Interpret and evaluate study and test findings.
• Relay relevant patient-care information to the collaborating physician.
• Administer prescribed therapeutic measures and obtain specimens.
• Evaluate care quality and recommend improvements.
• Initiate actions to implement therapeutic plans consistent with clients’ continuing healthcare needs.
• Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plan.
• Provide preventive health services, such as screening, risk assessment, immunizations, PAP smears, and self-breast examinations.
• Dictate or write patient histories, admission notes, care plans, progress notes, and discharge notes.
• Interact with program assistants and data managers to support optimal patient care.
• Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of care.
• Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and ensure appropriate, quality care for assigned patients.
• Provide on-call coverage.
• Triage patients and determine the urgency of physician evaluation.
• Provide symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.
