The Occupational Health Medical Assistant supports employee health services at GE Appliances by providing clinical and administrative assistance to the occupational health team. This role works closely with physicians, advanced practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses to support employee visits, routine testing, accurate documentation, and efficient daily clinic operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to delivering excellent service while maintaining confidentiality of employee health information.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professional Certification required
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in a medical facility (doctor’s office, long-term care facility, hospital) as a medical assistant
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Computer skills: Office suite: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Excellent customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant Program (preferred) OR Registered or Certified Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination, treatment, and assistance of patients under direction of Physician, Advanced Practitioner, Physician Assistant and/or RN in compliance with state practice acts and regulations.
  • Obtain vital signs and record information in employee chart in an accurate, legal and appropriate manner.
  • Application of splints, braces and wound dressings.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination.
  • Perform routine CLIA waived laboratory tests/collects specimens for routine laboratory tests.
  • Perform audiograms, pulmonary function testing, and other testing.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals; make follow-up phone calls to patients.
  • Perform administrative tasks and provide front desk/reception assistance.
  • Collect urine drug screens and perform breath alcohol testing.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as needed.
  • Participate in site-specific health and wellness programs as indicated.
  • Comply with GE Appliances and Network policies regarding confidentiality. Maintain & safeguard confidentiality of employee health information and occupational health records.
  • Comply with all policies related to Emergency Procedures as defined in Policies and Procedures, Medical Standards. Know personal role in event of a disaster or emergency-situation.
  • Functional within all databases used, primarily EMR-Cority, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, etc.
