About The Position
New York Health (NYH) is hiring a Medical Assistant for its primary care practice in Bayshore, New York. The role supports physicians and other care team members in delivering comprehensive, compassionate patient care. The schedule is five 8.5-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Reliable transportation is needed to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certificate.
- High school diploma.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending, and reaching.
- Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.

- Proficiency with an EMR system.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient intakes and accurately record information.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, including performing venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
- Record patients’ vital signs.
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
- Assist providers and other support staff with data entry.
- Assist physicians during visits with examinations and office procedures.
- Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
