About The Position

The optometric technician helps maintain efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the doctor's examination. The position contributes to patient care by conducting vision tests that help the optometrist provide appropriate care. No optical experience or certification is required; training is provided. The role also involves maintaining a professional doctor’s office and pretest room, explaining preliminary examinations, completing paperwork, reviewing patient information, and ensuring equipment is maintained.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor's office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Ensure the doctor’s and pretest equipment are properly maintained.
