Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant - Part Time

About The Position

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is hiring an optometric technician to support efficient patient flow and assist the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination. The role helps provide quality eye care by conducting vision tests and preparing patients for their examinations. Optical experience and certification are not required; training is provided. The position is part time and requires availability Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The stores are closed on Sundays.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Ensure doctor’s and pre-test equipment are properly maintained.
