About The Position

The Optometric Technician supports efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination. The position helps provide quality eye care by conducting vision tests and preparing patients for their exams. Optical experience and certification are not required; training is provided. The technician must be available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as well as weekends. The role is part-time and is with America’s Best, part of National Vision.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform patient testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and/or patient information and identify special needs; consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Ensure the doctor’s and pre-test equipment are properly maintained.
