Requirements

  • Completion of an approved medical assistant-phlebotomist training program and a current Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification issued by Washington State Department of Health.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills required.
  • Compassion for patients required.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to track multiple tasks to completion simultaneously a must.
  • Basic computer user skills required.
  • Medical terminology and accurate spelling required.
  • BLS (CPR/AED) required.
  • Valid drivers’ license and insurance required.
  • Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pediatric patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed.
  • Collects specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explains the process of drawing blood clearly to the patient.
  • Processes specimens including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order.
  • Sends blood samples to testing laboratories.
  • Researches test/client information and confirms and verifies all written and electronic orders.
  • Updates patient records.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and the guidelines of the clinic.
  • Cleans, prepares, and sterilizes equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
