Requirements
- Completion of an approved medical assistant-phlebotomist training program and a current Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification issued by Washington State Department of Health.
- Excellent customer service.
- Professional oral and written communication skills required.
- Compassion for patients required.
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to track multiple tasks to completion simultaneously a must.
- Basic computer user skills required.
- Medical terminology and accurate spelling required.
- BLS (CPR/AED) required.
- Valid drivers’ license and insurance required.
- Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with pediatric patients preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed.
- Collects specimens according to established procedures.
- Explains the process of drawing blood clearly to the patient.
- Processes specimens including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order.
- Sends blood samples to testing laboratories.
- Researches test/client information and confirms and verifies all written and electronic orders.
- Updates patient records.
- Maintains an organized and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and the guidelines of the clinic.
- Cleans, prepares, and sterilizes equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
