About The Position

The Senior Manager Accounting will ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting for accounting transactions to fulfill external reporting requirements in compliance with US GAAP and internal reporting and analysis needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting preferred).
  • 6 plus years of progressively responsible experience for a major company, division of a large corporation, or public accounting, with emphasis in the insurance industry.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Strong leadership, financial analysis and technical accounting skills required.
  • CPA required.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and multinational accounting.
  • Experience in supervision of Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, Accounting Assistants.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems.
  • Proven ability to exceed performance expectations and create value for internal and external customers, and the company.
  • Proven track record of leading a team to improved performance and efficiency.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP accounting, reporting and technical accounting issues.
  • High degree of innovation is expected to accomplish special projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High degree of tact and good judgment, especially with auditors and external parties.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing accounting staff, including hiring, evaluating and coaching.
  • Show ability to meet deadlines and goals in a limited time frame.
  • Ability and willingness to be effective in a hands-on management capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • SOX Compliance and audit experience a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and manage team members for ongoing development and execution of responsibilities.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, and the Annual and Quarterly GAAP financial reporting process.
  • Coordinate the quarterly and annual audit reviews conducted by external auditors.
  • Ensure accounting transactions are properly accounted for, and reports are prepared, analyzed and delivered on a timely basis.
  • Perform and document technical Accounting Research.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures including account preparation & reconciliation.
  • Assist in overseeing the operations of the products financial operations, specifically, the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Support Senior Executive Team with in-depth analysis; perform or manage ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Responsible for ensuring account reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for meeting internal and external client needs as they relate to financial data and analysis requests and inquiries on reported amounts.
  • Coordinate and lead efforts on special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with system conversions and set-ups of new business to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting to serve external and internal client needs.
  • Identify opportunities and implement procedures to drive efficiencies in accounting and add value to internal and external clients and stakeholders.
