About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all resort facilities and equipment. This includes overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of the resort's infrastructure, including guest cottages, public areas, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, and other mechanical and building systems. The Maintenance Engineer plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring that the resort's physical environment is in top condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in a resort or hotel environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with guests, staff, and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems throughout the resort.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems such as swimming pools and kitchen equipment.
  • Inspect and monitor all areas of the resort regularly to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly, resolving any issues that may arise from staff or guests.
  • Ensure timely and effective execution of scheduled maintenance tasks and repairs to avoid major breakdowns and disruptions.
  • Address guest maintenance-related issues or complaints in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring minimal disruption to their experience.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential maintenance issues before they impact guests.
  • Ensure that all systems and equipment are compliant with local, state, and federal safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment, following all safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and assist with emergency response planning, including fire safety systems and evacuation procedures
  • Collaborate with housekeeping, front desk, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Report on the status of facilities, equipment, and maintenance activities to the Chief Engineer as required.
  • Assist in emergency situations such as power outages, equipment failures, or natural disasters.
