On the ground, dnata USA keeps 27 of the country’s major airports connected – both with each other and the world - including John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City. Handling 200,000 tonnes of cargo, guiding 15,000,000 passengers and keeping 50,000 flights in the air each year, the work that the dnata USA team complete on the ground is crucial to keeping the country in the air. Mail Sorter lead will serve as first point of contact on the floor for sorters, providing direction and answering operational questions during shift.

Requirements

  • Ability to receive clearance from USPIS (postal inspection service)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be flexible to work variable shifts, weekends
  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during irregular operation
  • Male applicants must be registered on the Selective Service System (https://www.sss.gov/Home/registration) and provide the number
  • Ability to work in inclement weather

Nice To Haves

  • Must have strong work ethic and be able to perform physical labor over several hours, including the repetitive lifting of items up to 70 lbs.
  • Most items weight under 20 lbs. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work areas/tasks to sorters at shift start and adjust coverage as volume shifts throughout the day.
  • Monitor sort accuracy and throughput; correct errors in real time and coach sorters on proper procedures.
  • Conduct or assist with on-the-job training for new hires, including hazmat six-sided inspection and bypass can requirements.
  • Coordinate with the General Manager on scheduling monthly Safety Meetings; post meeting notices and take minutes.
  • Report daily staffing gaps, attendance issues, and safety concerns to the Operations Manager/ General Manager.
  • Ensure shift-level compliance with USPS, hazmat, and company policy requirements.
  • Loading, unloading and delivery of truck and aircraft containers.
  • Stacking of packages, mail bags and mail totes into floor level containers.
  • Pull rolling equipment across warehouse floor. Requires pulling empty and loaded equipment.
  • Load/unload mail form rolling equipment.
  • Load/unload mail from floor-level containers. Requires standing, some bending and occasionally step ladder use.
  • Unloading and loading of trailers with rolling equipment.
