About The Position

Pitney Bowes is hiring for a Direct Hire Full Time Presort Associate 1 at their Grand Prairie, TX Facility. This role involves preparing outgoing permit and metered mail by ensuring proper date, postage, and quality barcodes before production. Associates will be responsible for communicating errors, recognizing bad barcodes, troubleshooting and removing mail piece jams from machines, and monitoring the quality of mail and packages throughout the process. Key tasks include understanding zip code USPS labels, matching bin numbers to tray numbers, and following Quality Management Systems (QMS) practices to assure output quality by double-checking various mail attributes. The position also requires understanding USPS labels and preparation for stacking and sorting mail, ensuring sorter and other equipment run properly, assisting with inbound and outbound mail/package processing, and staying informed of acceptance times and truck departure schedules to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Maintaining a clean work area to prevent injuries is also a responsibility. Pitney Bowes Presort Services performs mail sorting, which is typically handled by the USPS, allowing them to receive discounted postage rates that are partially shared with clients. Their national network processes over 17 billion pieces of mail annually, offering end-to-end solutions from client pick-up to delivery into the postal system.

Requirements

  • The ability to be dependable and reliable.

  • The ability to walk, stand, stoop, and bend 80% of the time with or without accommodation.
  • A basic enough understanding of English to be able to understand and follow safety and other operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of your native language.
  • The ability to work overtime which may include weekends, holidays and or a different shift with little or no advance notice.
  • Must have current work experience at Pitney Bowes as a Warehouse Mail Sorter.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare outgoing permit and metered mail by reviewing proper date, postage, and good quality barcodes prior to being placed into production.
  • Communicate errors and recognize bad barcodes found in the mail &/or packages.
  • Troubleshoot and remove mail piece jams from machine.
  • Monitor the quality of the mail &/or packages prior to processing and before dispatching.
  • Understand zip code USPS labels and Matching bin numbers on machines to tray numbers.
  • Follow QMS (Quality Management Systems) practices and policies to assure quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, barcodes, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.
  • Understand USPS labels and preparation requirements for stacking and preparing sorted mail.
  • Assure the sorter equipment and other equipment used to run and prepare mail are running properly.
  • Assist with inbound and outbound processing of mail &/or packages.
  • Remain informed of acceptance times and when trucks must leave.
  • Assure mail &/or packages is prepared to meet SLAs (Service Level Agreement).
  • Promote a clean work area to prevent possible injuries and/or tripping hazards to self and others.
  • Perform all additional duties as required.
