About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or licensure in music education (or the eligibility to obtain one).
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal performance, and various musical styles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to foster a positive learning environment and adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction.
  • Familiarity with current music education technology and resources.
  • Background in performance (vocal, instrumental, or both) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement age-appropriate music curriculum for grades K-4, aligning with state standards and educational goals.
  • Teach basic music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills through interactive lessons and activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and a love of music.
  • Introduce students to various musical genres and cultures, promoting diversity and appreciation for different musical traditions.
  • Organize and lead grade-level music performances, concerts, and events, including rehearsals and preparation.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal methods, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into other subjects and enhance interdisciplinary learning.
  • Maintain classroom materials and instruments, ensuring a safe and organized learning space.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to promote the music program and encourage student participation.
  • Assist the High School programs where needed.
