About The Position
The Senior Teacher Long Term Substitute position in Southington, CT, provides consistent, high-quality instruction and classroom management during an extended absence of a regular teacher. The role maintains continuity of the educational program and supports student learning outcomes across an assigned grade or subject area. The successful candidate implements lesson plans, assesses student progress, and adapts teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Collaboration with school staff, parents, and administration helps foster a positive and productive learning environment and ensures students receive uninterrupted, effective education aligned with district standards and goals. This is a temporary position scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Sub status.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Education, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom environments effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities
- Deliver daily instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or school administration.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a supportive, inclusive environment conducive to learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress and provide feedback.
- Communicate regularly with school staff, parents, and administration regarding student needs, progress, and concerns.
- Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and special education requirements as necessary.
