About The Position

St. Theresa Catholic School is hiring a full-time Long-Term Substitute Teacher to serve in place of a classroom teacher during an extended absence. The role includes instruction, lesson planning, classroom management, and consistent, engaging support of student learning. The substitute works closely with school staff to help students stay on track and reports to the principal. The estimated start date is January 2027.

This position serves the school’s Catholic mission and is considered ministry for the Church. The employee is expected to uphold Catholic educational philosophy, model Gospel values, and comply with the school’s policies and the Diocese of Austin’s standards and requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject taught or a related field from an accredited American university, or equivalent from a foreign country.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Meet the minimum requirements for the teaching field set by the Diocese and TCCED.
• Maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout employment.
• Meet staff development guidelines set by the Diocese and school administration.
• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church, subject matter, instructional methods and strategies, curriculum differentiation, child development, learning, and behavior.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, pace and differentiate instruction, motivate and engage students, organize information clearly, use job-appropriate technology, think critically, and plan.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism, collaborate with peers, maintain confidentiality, manage classroom behavior, communicate effectively, work well with the school community, conference with parents upon request, respond to messages promptly, demonstrate student performance gains in keeping with school goals, and respond to individual learning needs.
• Three years of Pre-K teaching experience is preferred.

• Maintain current and accurate records in accordance with school policies.
• Use positive, consistent discipline and manage the classroom.
• Communicate with parents about academic, behavioral, and safety concerns.
• Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, parents, and staff.
• Work closely with school staff to help students stay on track.
