About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Senior Revenue Cycle Advisor for a 100% remote position. This role is within the Professional Billing Revenue Management team and focuses on evaluating revenue cycle performance operations independently. The advisor will ensure appropriate reimbursement for professional services, primarily for the Medicine Department. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7 years of experience in the revenue cycle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Experience working in EPIC preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of the financial process to track patient care from registration and scheduling to the final payment of a balance (Revenue Cycle).
  • Advanced problem-solving skills using critical thinking and process improvement, including coaching and mentoring development of problem statements, current state descriptions, root cause identification, future state creation, solution development, action plans, and sustainability plans.
  • Advanced process improvement skills to identify, analyze, and improve existing business processes for optimization and to meet quality standards.
  • Independently delivers on objectives with an understanding of how they impact the results of own area/team and other related teams.
  • Utilizes multiple sources of data to analyze and resolve complex problems; may take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Has advanced knowledge within a professional area and basic knowledge across related areas.
  • Acts as a go-to resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small project teams.
  • Invests time, energy, and enthusiasm in developing self/others to help improve performance and gain knowledge in new areas.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between clinical departments and the revenue cycle, using critical thinking to solve problems collaboratively.
  • Manages projects and facilitates problem-solving and account management.
  • Prepares and presents data, trends, and KPIs to physicians and administrators.
  • Designs, plans, and implements billing procedures and systems for new services to ensure effective billing operations.
  • Manages the performance of the billing function concerning established operating standards.
  • Facilitates necessary training and oversight to ensure competency in billing compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Engages in continuous process improvement initiatives to ensure a high-quality and cost-efficient billing and collection operation.
  • Collaborates with various areas in the finance department to achieve optimal workflows to support operations.
