About The Position

The Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) at Stephenson Cancer Center is seeking a detail oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician to support innovative behavioral health research. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of participant engagement and laboratory research while contributing to studies that focus on improving health and reducing cancer risk. In this role, you’ll participate in every stage of the research process—from recruiting participants to conducting experiments and ensuring data quality—making you a vital part of meaningful, real world research. HPRC’s research focuses on behavior change related to cancer prevention, including tobacco, alcohol, and substance use. As a Laboratory Technician, your work ensures high quality data collection, participant engagement, and smooth study execution—directly supporting research that improves health outcomes across communities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • None.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a Biological or Physical Science, Psychology, or health-related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or other relevant programs
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, enroll, and onboard research participants following approved protocols
  • Serve as a key point of contact for participants throughout study involvement
  • Track participant progress and conduct follow ups to ensure adherence to study procedures
  • Plan, set up, and conduct controlled research experiments and trials
  • Follow standardized procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in all research activities
  • Support ongoing studies focused on health behavior and cancer prevention
  • Collect and document research data accurately and efficiently
  • Perform daily quality control checks on research records
  • Record, organize, and report findings in accordance with study protocols
