About The Position

The Laboratory Technician II receives and/or processes specimens and performs clerical checks and support functions. The role may also perform phlebotomy. It conducts routine laboratory procedures with a limited range of possible errors and prepares specimens, materials, and equipment for testing by a Medical Technologist.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than one year of experience.
• Phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
• Skill in using computers and related software applications.
• Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sort, label, and record patient specimens.
• Set up specimens, materials, and equipment in preparation for a Medical Technologist to perform tests.
• Operate centrifuges, simplex timers, cell washers, and other laboratory equipment to complete assigned duties.
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• May perform phlebotomy.
