About The Position
The Laboratory Technician II works in Freeport-McMoRan’s rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas. The role prepares samples for analysis and quality-control programs, performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analyses and reporting, and maintains laboratory instrumentation and equipment. The technician also assists with training laboratory personnel and performs other duties as required. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shifts other than day shift, at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
Requirements
- One year of direct laboratory experience, or an associate degree in a related field that includes six months of related laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory equipment, protocols, and techniques appropriate to assigned areas.
- Demonstrated ability to train others in a particular area of the laboratory.
- Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
- Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
- Must pass mandatory pre-employment drug testing and may be subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.
