About The Position

The Laboratory Technician II prepares samples for analysis using appropriate techniques and performs sample preparation for the quality control program. The role performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting, maintains laboratory instrumentation and equipment, and assists with training laboratory personnel. Other duties may be required.

The position is based at Freeport-McMoRan’s rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas. Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and must pass all required training and/or testing. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shifts other than day shift, at a 24/7, 365-day operation. The position is subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.

Requirements

• One year of direct laboratory experience, or an associate-related degree that includes six months of related laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory equipment, protocols, and techniques appropriate to assigned areas.
• Demonstrated ability to train others in a particular area of the laboratory.
• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
• Must pass all required training and/or testing.
