About The Position

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is seeking a Lab Manager responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining software, PCs, and other testing devices. This role ensures the security of computers, manages lab equipment, maintains supplies, and ensures smooth lab operations. The Lab Manager will provide technical assistance for lab setup, support faculty with lab usage and special software requests, and maintain procedural documentation. Responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness and safety of computing labs, conducting daily walkthroughs to verify equipment functionality, managing purchase orders for projects, maintaining inventory logs, and coordinating shipments to and from other locations. The position also involves distributing, mounting, and unmounting lab equipment. The Lab Manager has overall responsibility for lab operations and related issues, including managing hardware inventory, processing RMAs, and maintaining accurate inventory logs. This position reports directly to the Technical Manager.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic working knowledge of Windows OS and Linux OS.
  • Ability to install Windows OS and LINUX OS.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use simple tools to secure network equipment in racks.
  • B.S. Degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining software, PCs, and other testing devices.
  • Ensuring the security of computers.
  • Managing and maintaining lab equipment and supplies.
  • Providing technical assistance in setting up labs.
  • Assisting faculty with lab usage or special software requests.
  • Maintaining procedural documentation.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of all computing labs.
  • Conducting daily walkthroughs of labs to ensure all components are working properly.
  • Following up on purchase orders for each project (MARS).
  • Maintaining the log to show IN/OUT of the inventory.
  • Following up on the shipment IN/OUT of the Thousand Oaks and Bangalore in India.
  • Distributing lab equipment (ALE and non-ALE product).
  • Mounting/Unmounting equipment on the rack for testbed (ALE and non-ALE product).
  • Managing hardware inventory.
  • Processing RMAs.
  • Maintaining accurate Inventory Management Logs/Details.
  • Receiving/Shipment of HW from/To other locations.
  • Equipment installation and configuration of computers for usage by testbed.
  • Testing equipment and software in the lab to ensure it is fully operational.
  • Maintaining equipment/software inventory and keeping tracking records by logging it in the database.
