About The Position

The West Coast Studio Operations HR team at NBCUniversal is seeking a collaborative, results-driven, and innovative HR Manager. This role is part of a high-performing team of experienced HR professionals dedicated to exceeding employee expectations and fostering an engaging, respectful, and collaborative work environment. The team supports NBCU's West Coast Studio Operations, which encompasses a rich history in Film & TV, industry-leading production services, post-production, stages & backlot, special events, and facilities. As a key HR partner, this manager will support several functions within the operation of this unique content-creating city. Responsibilities include driving HR projects related to onboarding, rewards and recognition, performance feedback, talent attraction and development, and overall HR business impact. Working closely with the Director, HR, this position provides day-to-day support to managers and employees, coaches leaders on people and performance matters, and oversees core HR cycles such as performance management, compensation planning, engagement, and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid judgment, clear communication, and the ability to balance multiple stakeholders while promoting a positive, people-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Labor Relations or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant professional level HR experience
  • 2+ years of experience conducting complex employee relations investigations
  • Strong business acumen, insightful analytical skills, and superior process/project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly gain trust and respect and influence as needed, keeping a client-focused mindset
  • Ability to help bring the best potential out of the employees, managers, and partners you work with helping them to continue to develop and create a great place to work with one another
  • Vision to see the “big picture” and be able to boil it down to the appropriate HR and business strategy to make it work
  • Motivated and can work with minimal guidance, finding the resources to help you out

Responsibilities

  • Be a business partner with an HR expertise leading resolution by independently managing employee relations issues for represented and non-represented employees with a proactive, inclusive and fair approach, leveraging experts from our Labor Relations and Employment Law teams as needed.
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality HR support and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Be the chief interpreter and implementer for HR policies, practices and procedures for all level of employees, looking to further the mission, values and strategic vision of the business.
  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with leaders and employees; proactively identify themes and recommend thoughtful, practical solutions.
  • Be a key contributor in drafting documentation and exercise sound judgment while knowing when to escalate.
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement action plans that address performance, culture, and operational challenges; use data and insights to proactively identify and solve issues.
  • Champion both the employee perspective and the company needs to promote a positive, collaborative, respectful, and engaging work environment.
  • Be a talent magnet, partnering with clients and our internal talent acquisition team, to create innovative and effective recruitment strategies seeking candidates from a diverse background and life experiences, and using exceptional candidate selection skills to build the best team for the organization.
  • Be a project driver role as needed for strategic HR team projects both local and company-wide, looking to ideate and execute programs that develop and engage our employees throughout their career life-cycle, achieve measurable outcomes, and are executed on time.
