About The Position

The HPU Athletic Communications department is looking for students who are seeking real world experience in the fast-paced environment of college athletics. This internship offers hands-on experience in Division I Athletics, focusing on sports media.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work a variety of jobs.
  • Basic knowledge of social media.
  • Prepared to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2.3 overall GPA.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong writer and/or design skills.
  • Understanding of social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Gain social media experience with award-winning accounts.
  • Learn social techniques and showcase work to large audiences.
  • Write for HighPointPanthers.com and receive feedback.
  • Create content for a DI Athletic Department, including videos and graphics.
  • Connect with professional journalists and local news companies.
  • Gain hands-on media relations experience.
  • Interview student-athletes and coaches for stories and website content.
  • Learn fundamentals of sports information, including inputting and calling statistics at HPU home athletic events and updating website content.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
