Internship – Mechatronics Engineer

ASML•Wilton, CT
•Onsite

About The Position

ASML is seeking a mechatronics intern to help develop or improve simulation models that predict the performance of future systems in its EUV business line. The work will evaluate and potentially define new features for the next-generation reticle handler. The reticle handler moves customer reticles from the load port to the reticle stage for exposure, and the mechatronics team focuses on performance measures such as throughput and reticle exchange time. This position is on-site in Wilton, Connecticut, with in-person attendance required for work-related events, training, and meetings. The internship lasts 12 weeks and must begin in one of the listed sessions: June 2, 2027, or June 14, 2027. The intern must be willing to work in a clean room while wearing required protective garments and equipment.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing a degree in mechatronics, robotics, or a controls specialization.
  • Have completed two years of college.
  • Have experience using MATLAB simulation tools.
  • Have experience with CAD NX skills and interfacing an NX model with MATLAB.
  • Have code experience in C++ or Python.
  • Be able to learn new simulation software, such as robot suites.
  • Be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Demonstrate effective performance in a demanding environment with changing workloads.
  • Communicate openly, clearly, concisely, and professionally.
  • Be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and customers.
  • Be willing to work in a clean room wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves for the entire shift.
  • Be available for a 12-week session beginning June 2, 2027, or June 14, 2027.
  • Successfully complete a background check and any other tests that may be required if offered employment.
  • Be legally authorized to access controlled technology before beginning work, if the position requires such access.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or improve simulation models to better predict the performance of future systems in the EUV business line.
  • Evaluate and potentially define new features for the next-generation reticle handler.
  • Support improvements to reticle handler performance, including throughput and reticle exchange time.
  • Drive an assigned scope based on a problem statement, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements.
  • Complete assignments independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
